98bonerSTOCKshee
Do banshee's have them and Is it possible to eliminate the rev limiter, and what effect would it have ???
sandman121383
hey man. as far as rev limiters go. . . there's a screw on your thumb throttle box. the further out the better i think it's supposed to be like 10 mm out but if u turn it in i think it'll slow you down. maybe someone can pull a clymer out and give u more info. other than that u have the TORS (throttle over ride system) if u have the stock carb setup. u might wanna do a search 1st and look into both. u might find a search more useful
421stroker
Banshees dont have rev limiters. The Tors system is to kill the bike if your throttle sticks and as far as the screw goes in the throttle housing you can take it out if you want. It just limits how far you can push in the thumb throttle.
fixitrod
Rev limiters come in many forms...lol. Pipes, carbs, pistons, porting, rods, all the above. But, a banshee does not have an electronic rev limiter. The screw is there so you can make sure your not putting to much tension on the throttle cable at full throttle. If your slides in the carbs are all the way at the top and your pushing the throttle really hard... it could snap the cable. If you adjust theat screw properly, you'll be putting force on the screw instead of un-do stress on the cable.

The Clymers manual (at least mine) has NOTHING on rev limiter, only a ignition interrupt system..the TORS. Like the others said, the only rev limiting factors are the pipes, carbs, size of the intakes/exhaust/transfers, rotating mass, etc. The Banshee has a primative crank triggered ignition, not a distributor, or any other type of electronically/mechanically controlled timing curve. Wheatchex
I'm going to throw this out: There is a rev limiter but it is designed to keep the operator(you) from burning up the parking brake/rear brake pads. It only functions when the parking brake is on. It will limit the RPMS to about 3K or less. Otherwise there is no rev limiters other than the factory pipes. The TORS function as a Rev limiter of sorts in that if one or both of the throttle slides stick and you release the thumb throttle, the engine will shut off. The stock CDI box does have the advance curve built into it electronically and it can not be adjusted there but can be fooled by using a degree key or adjustable timing plate which shift the timing curve over the entire RPM range. You like that shit eh? hehe Thats that Star Wars Kid. Wheatchex....I forgot about that. That POS thing on the clutch lever. A few buddies of mine had their fail about 3-4 months after they bought their banshees, and it would only rev so high and backfire like crazy.
