Blacksmith
Hey Guys, When you look at a set of stock carb slides, there is a hole through the center of the slide next to the hole the needle is in. You can put the cable clip in such that it either covers this hole or leaves it partially open. Which way should you put the clip in, does it matter, does it effect the way the bike runs, and if so why. Thanks.
fixitrod
Leave the hole open so a vacuum doesn't get created above the slide.
Cotton eyed Joe
Leave the hole open so a vacuum doesn't get created above the slide. EXACTLY!!! The slide has to move up and down, and you can't just compress the air trapped above the slide, or if the air does escape, and is not let back in, you got some stuck wide open slides. Think of a hypodermic. If you plug the hole with your thumb, you can't compress the plunger, and if you press the air out, plug it up, you can't pull the plunger out.
