Boring Out

what is a good bore and piston size on stock cylinders to gain some top end but not lose any off the bottom.

opening the bore won't necessarily cause you to lose or gain bottom or top. It won't be any different than it is now, other than maybe making more power overall. It depends on the setup. If you go to a much bigger bore, you'll just have to give it that much more air, and fuel. But, back to the question, the bore size it not directly related to the top or bottom in particular. The way the machine is built will dictate how the machine will run, this is especially true on 2 stroke motors.
