350 longrod Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Iam running the same carb do you know what main you are runing also what is your elevation.I have parinoa about sticking pistons after owning a LT500 so Iwas increasing the main jet to try and make it stumble on wide open and I could never get it to. The plugs were alwas clean I was told that some times if you are too rich it will wash the plugs clean and not stumble .So I have been dropping main Jet sizes plugs now have color . Quote
sredish Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I'm running a 180 main currently. I've been tinkering 'cause of the cold spell we're having, but 180 is about right for me right now. I'm about 2,000 feet, I think, can't remember at the moment. If your anywhere around my elevation, throw in a 200 and see what you got. If its too rich, and you probably will be, unless your ported and stroked out your ass, then there will be quite a bit of oil. Make sure your running the wide open throttle test in a fairly high gear, and the machine is fully warmed up. It will begin to stumble when its too rich, and there will be some black when it richens up. I like mine just a tad off black, so close you can't hardly tell. Also, you need to look in the base of the plug, not up at the top where you gap it. Down inside, you'll see the ceramic base, thats where you need to be looking. Check it out and let us know. Quote
