FoxBansheeRacing
I am putting my shee back together tonight and was wondering if there is a special place the rings need to be when you seat them back into the cylinders. If there is a special place where is it at? Is there anything else I need to know about this?
Justintoxicated
there are 2 pins in the pistons, the ring's space needs to be aligned with those 2 pins and you should lube your cylinders, and compress the rings before sliding them down over the pistons

FoxBansheeRacing
Yes I know they need to be in the groves, I mean is there a certain position they need to be in in the groves?
Creole
before you do anything make sure you gap the rings first
PassionRE
The ring locator pins in the pistons mandate where the end gaps go. The ring end gaps will end up being between the rear boost port and rear transfer ports. Look at the pistons closely before installing rings and any numbers or letters face upwards. Clean the base gasket surfaces and install a slight amount of 2 cycle oil on the sleeves torwards the bottom before installing. Depress ring ends with your fingers as you gently slide the cylinders over the rings one at a time...NO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE. After cylinder is in place with nuts and torqued, wipe more oil evenly throughout the bore surface with the piston all the way down. Turn the motor over a few times by hand and then wipe off any excess oil that may have ended up on the head gasket surface of the cylinder. If not installing the head right away, lay clean dust free rags over the jugs until the head is ready to install....Jim
