J.D. Blackwell Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 I don't know who else to ask. I need help. My buddy and I put together his Trinity motor w/ fresh topend, ported jug, headwork, 44mm carb, race pipe, etc... It ran fine for the first 10 hours of riding, but the slide spring was to stiff and we shortened it it relieve some spring pressure. Well, since I put it back together, it has been flooding bad. Info: 540 jet 400' elevation 50-70* weather temp Need to know: How much gap should the slide be open? What should the air/fuel screw backed off at? Man, I would greatly appreciate any help. I know this is not a Quadzilla, but I don't have anyone to ride with if that Zilla isn't running. Justin Quote
Banchetta Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 doesn't sound right....I had a zilla yearrrrrsss ago....check the reeds, they are notorious for broken petals and flood out....If you haven't touched any jetting and just took apart the carbs, then jettin wouldn't be the problem.... I just pulled the cage, the reeds aren't broken, but the top reeds are closed shut and the bottom ones are open about 1/16". Does that mean anything? Also the only thing that could have been changed is the slide adjustment on top of the carb where you can screw it in and out to adjust the amount of opening that the slide has at idle. Pulled the plug and it was coated in raw gas and the reeds were too if that means anything. I am a decent mechanic, but don't know how to adjust the carb or can't tell what signs to look for for any problems. HELP!! Note: the floats work perfect as do the throttle cable. Quote
