Hows My Jetting

Recommended Posts

You could probably pull a little higher main jet, like a 300 or so, but nobody here could tell you that. You have to check it yourself to see where your at and if your rich or lean to know exactly what you need.

Do a search on jetting and how to jet, and you'll get more than enough reading material to last you the week.

Well, we can't tell you that. You'll have to check your plugs, run your bike at wide open throttle and kill the motor, check your plugs and see if they are lean or rich. They should be real dark, borderline black. If they are light brown, then 290 is too lean and you'll need to try a 300 or go back to 310. Play with that and find the right jet for your conditions and setup.

I was in a hurry when I posted last. When you do the wide open throttle test. Get the bike in the tallest gear possible with the throttle wide freaking open, like 6th and get the rpms going, then kill the motor (be sure to pull the clutch in  ). Then pull both plugs and look at the color. Thats how you check your main jet. Tell us what you see and we'll help you figure out where you need to be.

A lean bike will run good.... but not for long.... :o

gotta check your plugs.

Don't be scared to go big on the mains.
