muttmachine84
Hey guys i want to put some works shocks on my bike. I dont jump far or high and if i did id shit myself and die so landings wouldnt be important, but i do like to race up the hills and thru the whoops. I know lots of guys like peps and elkas but i dont have a ton of cash and just want a better ride. So who has them and which is better for what........ Thanks in advance Scott
sandman121383
hey man , when i got my bike it came with works double rates for a kid about the same size as me. roughly 140-150 lbs. i've shot up hills and jumped off the top and dropped like 12 ft into the flat a few times and they didn't bottom out on me i landed nice and soft. weight is the major factor picking out shocks. shocks with rezzies are nice if u got the extra cash, they'll stay cooler and last longer. all depends on what u wanna drop for a set
evil
I got a friend that races with triple rate stealers, no ressi's and they hold up to MX. Just get them set up for you and your riding style and you'll be set.
BenBB
I run Works triple rates with no rezzies and love them. Cheapest place I could find them was C&D, 308-696-7805. I think they were $345 shipped and took about 2 weeks (that was a couple years ago, they are still holding up perfectly). For the money I don't think you can do better than Works. Anyway, I love how the triple rates soak up the small ruts, as others have said get them set up for your weight and riding style and you should be real happy with them. I don't really know how much difference the triple versus double rates make, but I think if you're under 200-250 lbs. I would go with the triples (seems like I read somewhere that the third spring isn't effective if you're heavier). Good luck.
99Red_Roostr
My son has the triples with resy I have the bouble without resy. The triples have a soft part that soaks up slight bumps but at the cost of suspension travel. The doubles are just fine, slightly more bumpy with the small stuff, but much more forgiving in the rough stuff& corner better ( not mushy) . My son wishes he had the double - wants to trade - no way!! Get the doubles and save some $$ they work great. You really should get +2 A-Arms at the same time ( sorry for the extra $$ but its a HUGE difference and is well worth it) 99rr
Banshee17Racing
I have Triples with rezzies and really like them, huge difference over stock. They are pretty high on price but I think are worth it. As of now, I have stock a-arms, like 99Red_Roostr said, I wish I would have replaced everything in one shot. I haven't had a chance to test them out on huge jumps, but you also said you don't jump anyway. I've heard that people actually like doubles for jumping, but triples for the little stuff. Hey 99Red_Roostr, What type of A-arms do you have? I am hoping on A-arms being my next mod, as soon as money allows. Josh
