vmaxup
Ok my shee runs great and I have rebuilt motors and redune many peoples Carbs. But I have this one 1996. I cant figure out. Float height is good air srew at 1 1/2 and 360 jets for Glamis. Problem If it sits for a day you cant start it no matter what. One squirt of starting fluid and it will start on the first kick and stay running, It will idle by itself all day and run great after that. You let it sit for a day and no way no start. SO easy fix find a can off starting fluid to fit in your six pack rack. So one less beer for the trip but you make it back too camp? Any ideas? I really need that extra beer at the drag or comp. bm350
what size pilot jets are you running? have you pulled the carbs off and cleaned the choke tube (the one in the bowl on the left carb that feeds the choke)?

fixitrod
Sounds like bad fuel !!!! I've had that happen before also.
vmaxup
actually the motor just got put back together from a clutch problem. It did this before the rebuild and still dose it. It has new gas and plugs.
SyNtAxx
Hey, is your compression low ? Nick
sredish
What about your jetting? If its a little rich it won't want to start. I know someone mentioned the pilot jet. Also, what oil do you use. Castor oils (Castor 927) will seperate below 35 or so degrees and you will have a really rich mixture going to the motor when you start it cold. I know this personally, and I shake my machine before I start it in the winter. Not too mention, they will run a little richer in the winter anyway. So you could be borderline in the summer, but never notice, and when winter comes, its just enough. Try some BR8IEX NGK Iridium plugs (same as BR8ES, just Iridium version), the spark is a little hotter and that might help. Also, how is your overall ignition? You might have just enough power to keep it running, but low enough that its hard to get started. Just a thought. Scott
Nighty
I was more thinking about a weak spark. a 96 shee.. it idles great.. dont see why it would be jetting or a choke tube. I say weak spark.
Nighty
Oh sorry sredish, i missed your post during dinner I'm with ya about the ignition.
ledofthezep
is your compression low ? Yeah....what's your compression looking like? Sounds like it could be bad gas too like fixitrod said too.
sredish
Maybe it's time for an Adjust-on-the-fly ignition. I know I've been wanting to try one.
