shee4202
I,m looking to get the most power out of my banshee. I want to replace the crank with a performance crank. I,ve heard about 4mm long rod crank's, stroker crank's, etc. Can somebody tell me some diff. crank options and what the gain would be? ScreaminShee01
stroker cranks are the hot setup... im in the process of building my stroker... it will add a lot of bottom end, but you wil see big gains over the whole power band. PassionRE does really nice work so i hear, if you have a stock shee, and want this stroker banshee, youll need pipes, carbs, porting, clutch and many other things. if you get a shop to do it, look at $2000+ at least thats what mine is with those parts. of course me n my buddy are building it just shop costs for porting and mine is getting bored .040" over. good luck
GYTWYPT
TDR (Tony Dukas Racing) This guy will put together what ever kind of crank you want. Had him build me a long rod crank. Better than new or those hotrod cranks in my opinion
FORMULASPEED
GYTWYPT Posted on Jan 27 2004, 07:52 PM Did you use your existing crank and had them put long rods on? how much was it? Are you satisfied with it?
shee4202
how much more power will you get out of a 7 or 10mm crank as opposed to a 4mm crank and do you have to get the crank case modified for this particular mod?
fixitrod
You have to remember, it's not all about horse power. It's torque also. When adding a crank, you can go big bore and really get some power. With 7mm and 10mm you'll need to get the crank case cut as well as porting, head, bigger carbs. If you can afford it and ride it, go for it.
Big Blue
how much more power will you get out of a 7 or 10mm crank as opposed to a 4mm crank and do you have to get the crank case modified for this particular mod? you will have to have more work done for a 7 or 10mm which = more money a 4mm is a drop-in except for having to get some port work done and all the other goodies you will probably want. GYTWYPT
actually i got a cheap crank of ebay that had the lower bearings out. Sice TDR rebuilds the whole thing anyway I figured i would keep my good stock crank as a back up. I was very satisfied with it. A buddy had a new hot rod crank and the tdr was visualy a smoother running crank. They where both out of the motor. They build them better than new. I liked TDR cause you can give them a call and they will actually return your calls. that is my opinion for what it is worth. ohya i forgot the price I believe it was 300 or
shee4202
If i did get a 7 or 10mm crank, i would have to get the casings modifid, bigger carbs, like 34mm, and some port work done. What advantages would this crank give me over the smaller one?
fixitrod
Torque and power!!! It would pull more fuel and air on each stroke because it move farther. More CC's
Banshee0028
How beneficial would a Balanaced crank be? More reliable since less engine vibrations, or what?
