J.D. Blackwell
I was wondering what mods can you do til you need bigger carbs? I like to do several things at once and didn't know if I would need bigger carbs. Here are the mods I was thinking about: .020 overbore w/ Vito's Superstock pistons Milled head .030 (of course weld & true the crank) advance timing +4* K&N clamp-on filters V Force reed cages & reeds already have Pro Circuit pipes I will soon be doing the bikes first rebuild and was thinking about these mods. Let me know if I will need bigger carbs or can bore the stockers and if I need bigger carbs, what would be the carb to get? Thanks, Justin
jasonsb
You can use stock carbs with 370 kits and/or with milding ported motors. Going to a bigger carb will make your bike run crappy unless you have race porting and good pipes. The stock carbs will perform well with your set-up....just have to rejet the carbs richer. I use stock carbs with my set-up below: dual K&N filters plus everything listed below. Spending money on boring the carbs or 28 mm carbs is not worth it. You can use that money for porting. Proquad101
The size of the carbs depends on what kind of riding you are doing. I race 1/2 mile ovals so I like bigger carbs. The bigger the carbs the more bottom end you lose, if you just trail ride or race small tracks I would keep the smaller carbs for more bottom end. The 28mm pk's are a real good all around carb, its not so big you will loose your bottom end.

Just for fun
your stock carbs actually out flow the stock banshee engine. They are very good at what they do. Like previously mentioned you really should only consider going to a larger pair of carbs when you have some port work done and you have a good pair of pipes.
