BIGSAL
What's the best way to mix this stuff??? Straight up, with water or added to coolant??? I've added that stuff to my cooland along with an inline cooler, but I've heard other people say that it has enough corrosion protection to be ran straight up with water... THANKS!! ledofthezep
I dunno, but I wouldn't. I doubt it has all the lubricants that anti-freeze does.
Justintoxicated
its supposed to, but I would not risk it, you would also want to use distilled watter with it..I would just add it with your coolant though...It does not have the anti freeze protection that coolant does either. If its just for a race or something it should be fine with just water, but I would not want to risk the long term affects it may have
Oilsmoke
I say write a email to Redline and ask a tech and then post there reply here.
spoin39
No, it is meant to be used with coolant, and do like they say run distilled water, way less corrosion. If you can find ENGINE ICE, use that, it is meant to be used straight and cools very well.
Leadfoot350
Whats up sal. I have been using normall 50 50 with about half the bottle of water weter. I read in a test that engine ice was not as good water weter so no go on the engine ice. You can get water weter at pep boys too.
909
I run distilled water and dilute purple ice just like they recommend on the bottle. I primarily use the ice to keep the mineral particles to a minimum. Pure water is the best heat dissapating liquid out there. anti-freeze is used as a stabilizer, anti-corrosive, and to raise the boiling point of the water. It does not dissapate heat better though. Since in my situation, i live in the desert, don't ride when its below freezing, hill shoot, and change out at the end of the season every year. I haven't had any problems de to this. Although my motor won't get that 200,000 miles on it, I haven't found a compelling reason to do different. Your mileage may vary though. Examine your situation before doing something beyond the manufacturers recommendations.
Justintoxicated
I dunno I switched form water wetter to engine ice, and I have had good results. On the bottle engine ice clamis to cool better than water wetter + coolant. You could also add water wetter to the engine ice, but the engince ice is supposed to work better already. Engine ice is compleatly different than Purple Ice, as engine ice is non toxic. Water wetter is like the most toxic shit in your banshee lol. I have been having good results with the engine ice except that it keeps shooting out my pipes due to a leak lol. Where did you see test results of water wetter + 50/50 coolant compared to engine ice? I'd like to see. My experience with water wetter was decent too, but I think i prefer the Engine Ice.. I hear koolaid is also good shit, it claims to be better than engine ice, but when tested I heard they were about the same?
Timmy301
Engine Ice all the way man!!!!!!!!!
spoin39
I have been running the Engine Ice for 4-5yrs. and never had a problem. Tore down last year for rebuild and all was very clean, no corrosion at all. Never overheated with it either.
Leadfoot350
There was a test in the atv sport magazine within the last 6 months. It said that engine ice had no difference at all. They said that water weter had the greatest difference. Just because you use it personally does not mean it is the best. I am just going by the facts. I saw that test, and I think they used straight water with it and no antifreeze. I used water wetter and switched to engine ice and had better results. No more overheating. spoin39
Those tests were also done by scientific methods, not real world and use. I used to use the water wetter but tried the engine ice and never switched back.
Oilsmoke
Spoin What did you use to gauge them?
spoin39
Just the fact that it never overheats, and my radiator and cooling system never had any corrosion with engine ice. The water wetter worked OK but did overheat once in awhile and always left gunk in my overflow. Not saying WW is bad, just not as good.
