What Is The Best Sand Paddle Tire?

Recommended Posts

I just bought my first Banshee. It is a 2001, it has FMF Power Core II exhaust, a K&N air filter, and a boost bottle, as far as I know this is the only mods done to it. I plan to be riding on the sand down at the river and at Little Sahara State Park, Waynoka OK. I have rode there before on a utilty four wheeler, if I remember correctly there is not a lot of trash or rocks there. I have heard many different opions about what is the best sand paddle. I am looking for something that will hold up well and get a good bite. I have heard that slanted paddles dont help you turn, like they say they will. Is this true? Would something like a Skat Trak Hauler be best? I dont really know what I should get, since I have heard so many contradictory options. Any comments are welcome.

Hey man,...for your riding & where you'll be...I'd go to Jim's Sand Toyz in Waynoka the next time you go to Little Sahara & get you some paddles like what I got. I was going to get some 8 paddle extreme haulers & they talked me in to getting these instead...saved me a little over $100 compared to the skats & they are built awesome & perform just as well as the haulers. They're a bit wider, only have 8 paddle option--which would suit your banshee well. Here's a pic...Sand King's 'Turbo Paddles' Looking at around $160 for a set. Or if you want the name & have the money, the extreme haulers would suit you just as well. ;)

I like to fly high & haven't had any problems. It is very possible though, the 8" rim may give a little better, but not a whole lot. They'll bend just like any other wheel. If you have the money & want the extra re-insurance, get you some re-enforced rears & have them mount the paddles for you. I'm not sure what they charge w/out wheels though. ;)

How do those Sand King's hold up, because where we ride at the river there is more trash and stuff (a few rocks, bottles, ect.), than at Little Sahara. I dont want to buy some and take them to the river and destroy them the first time I use them. I dont like to jump real high, mostly little jumps, so would you suggest an 8" or 10" rim? Thanks for all your help.

Probably the 10's--most people run them on banshees down there at LS...if you decide to get those paddles ask Jim about them & he'll help ya out. They hold up well, mine are in the same condition as they were when I bought them but I've only put about around 20hrs on them. They look like they'll hold up better than the skats would but I never had problems with my skats either. The paddles are molded in the tire & not glued on like the skats, but I think Skat may have changed their design a bit too.
