Cinders? I hear its awesome, but will eat a set of paddles in a day. There are some pics over at Guido's website (from the email list) www.quadracer.com

I know there are more... but my mind isnt working yet... Its too early in the morning. If you post this to the email list, I know you will get a few answers since there are a bunch of people from AZ on the list

ahh yes they cinders, awsome place to ride and camp, the cinders is a buncha old volcanic land that is little gravel lavarocks between 1/16-1/4" in diameter. It's nice and cool even through alot of the summer months here and people ride there when its too hot to go to the dunes. There are some MASSIVE craters and hills there that you really need mucho h.p. to get up, trails through the pinetrees are alot of fun to rip too. It can be pretty harsh on your paddles but if you stick to the loose stuff and stay off the road paddles can last quite a few trips, you would be kickin yourself out there with knobbies on a shee. It's in Flagstaff, AZ and is about 1 1/2 hours from Tempe/Phoenix area. We generally have to do some re-jetting after we get there for the high altitude and cold weather. Some of these hills make the biggest hills at Glamis look like chickenchit

I have a place at "Havasu Springs Resort" at the bottom of lake Havasu on the Arizona side, back across the parker dam on the Calif, side there are a couple of good riding spots we frequent both with some small dunes, fast desert sections, dry silt beds, deep washes. Both have nice paved parking areas with load / unload ramps you can back up to if you have your bike in the back of a truck, restrooms, a posted map of the trail system that goes for miles back in the hills, well marked with signs rating the "loop" you are on and a difficulty level. A pretty cool spot to ride in the fall / winter months. Plus back on the Arizona side in Parker ther is a dirt road out of town that takes you 7 miles out to the infamous "Desert Solar Bar" a rockin bar that goes off - that you can ride to, and then hopefull ride back from.
