fixitrod
Try new plugs first. It won't start properly if only one side is firing anyway.
Mud Pilot
Just put new plugs in it b/c i just rebuilt it. How are these guys getting there bike to start on one or two kicks
fixitrod
Mine start in one or two kicks. Make sure the carbs are installed right. The slides need to be in the correct carb and the choke tube needs to be connecting the two carbs in the center. Also, start with the pilot screws two turns out from seated. Those are the air screw close to the boot that goes to the aribox. Just check over the simple stuff like the wires, spark plug tops tight... Make sure the carbs are synced by looking into the airbox with the airfilter removed. The slides should start to lift at the exact same time. You may have the throttle cable kinked up at the y. Wallrat
Get a clymers manual. It will help you fix problems and help a whole lot when you're trying to do suggestions made by people on this board. Also check that your carbs are sync'd. Easiest way is to turn the gas off and with the engine off, open the throttle and let it close. Listen to the carbs, you should hear only one 'click'. If you hear 2 seperate clicks then your carbs are WAY off and that could easily cause only one pipe to smoke. You can determine which carb is lagging by placing one end of a screwdriver on each carb and the other end on your ear. Banshees run really well and aren't hard to start or keep running when they're properly maintained. What kind of compression do you have on each cylinder? Wassup350
I had the same problem, just make sure your slides are the same hight like fixitrod said. If your carbs seem to be synced and everything is set up right you may have to take them apart and make sure none of the jets are clogged up at all. fixitrod
Also, since you just did a rebuild... if all that is correct, you may have a head gasket leak. Loosen the radiator cap to releive the pressure from the cooling system. If the smokes slowes down or quits, it's a coolant leak for sure.
