trail rider
I was wondering what dirt bike motors could be put into quad frames without doing any kind of modifications to the motor or the frame? for example I've heard of people putting cr 80 motors in a 400ex frame. ledofthezep
I don't see it happening without doing some mods. And WTF would you put a cr80 motor in an EX frame? I'd prefer a crf450 motor in an EX frame. Either way,...you'll have to do some modding.
Banshee crazy kid
If u put that 80 motor in an EX it might take a hell of a beating, You wil need to mod the motor to fit the EX frame. The 80 motor will go through too much stress to survive for long.
Wallrat
Engines polute. Get a used power wheel and put all the batteries and the electric motor into the banshee. You should still be able to pull away from that 80ex!
Wassup350
You could probably fit a cr250r engine in a 250 r. I'm not positive but it could probably happen. I think the sickest dirtbike engine in a quad would be a CR 500 into a 250r frame. Awsome power and awsome handling.
frocashmoney24
ive seen a suzuki 124 in a blaster frame at the races, did pretty good
trail rider
I didn't say I was putting a cr 80 motor in a ex frame , I just said that as an example cause I saw it in a magizine for little kids racing. I was thinking more of a cr 250 motor in a 400 ex frame.
NAXbansheeman11
a cr 250 motor would work in both the 400ex fram and 250r frame it has been done. so has the 500 but they vibrate like crzy
bardon22
i dont understand why you would want to put a cr80 in a ex frame, and it will require modding, a good idea is taking a crotch tockey engine out and stickin it in a warrior frame, i saw this one guy, he did it with a 1000cc crotch rocket engine raced flat track and owned everyone in the process
NAXbansheeman11
he was just givig that as an example. but it has been done the kids that race use stuff like that
locogato11283
i have a cr500 engine in my banshee frame. its a fuckin beast. there is no excess vibration in mine. it doesnt vibrate anymore than a cr500 engine in the bike frame. many people say they will vibrate so bad the break welds and other stuff but mine has been together now for about 5 months and i ride the piss out of it. i havent broken anything. i dont know why anyone would put a smaller motor in a 400ex frame tho. seems kinda pointless to me. .
On the whole 80 in an ex frame, they also put them in 250R chassis'. Kids that are racing in the 80cc classes are to big to ride a quad that an engine that size would come in. My buddy had a YZ80 that was worked to the balls and it was the funnest thing in the world to ride. The sucker ripped for what it was. Kept up with most 125's. And a stock YZ125 is about even with a piped/filtered shee. It was like riding a powered bmx bike. You could throw it around and do anything you wanted with it. I would think that an engine like that in a 400ex frame would be pretty badass
ledofthezep
I would think that an engine like that in a 400ex frame would be pretty badass That little 80cc 2stroke would have its work cut out for it & probably wouldn't hold up long. a YZ250 in an ex frame would be badass, or even the yz426 4choke
Wassup350
Forget dirtbike engines, all you need is that 350 twin 2 stroke power
