Dirt Bike Motors In Quad Frames?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what dirt bike motors could be put into quad frames without doing any kind of modifications to the motor or the frame? for example I've heard of people putting cr 80 motors in a 400ex frame.

I didn't say I was putting a cr 80 motor in a ex frame  , I just said that as an example cause I saw it in a magizine for little kids racing. I was thinking more of a cr 250 motor in a 400 ex frame.

i dont understand why you would want to put a cr80 in a ex frame, and it will require modding, a good idea is taking a crotch tockey engine out and stickin it in a warrior frame, i saw this one guy, he did it with a 1000cc crotch rocket engine raced flat track and owned everyone in the process :o

i have a cr500 engine in my banshee frame. its a fuckin beast. there is no excess vibration in mine. it doesnt vibrate anymore than a cr500 engine in the bike frame. many people say they will vibrate so bad the break welds and other stuff but mine has been together now for about 5 months and i ride the piss out of it. i havent broken anything. i dont know why anyone would put a smaller motor in a 400ex frame tho. seems kinda pointless to me.

On the whole 80 in an ex frame, they also put them in 250R chassis'. Kids that are racing in the 80cc classes are to big to ride a quad that an engine that size would come in.

My buddy had a YZ80 that was worked to the balls and it was the funnest thing in the world to ride. The sucker ripped for what it was. Kept up with most 125's. And a stock YZ125 is about even with a piped/filtered shee.

It was like riding a powered bmx bike. You could throw it around and do anything you wanted with it. I would think that an engine like that in a 400ex frame would be pretty badass
