Hiram
Just wondering if any one has any info on this type of mod. I have my pistons and jugs out and will be redoning the top end and after porting the jugs the intake window on the jugs is wider than intake on the pistons and was thinking of port matching them up abit wider to match. spoin39
I have done this in the past also with a dremel and being very careful! Just make a outline so you don't go any farther than needed and you'll be fine. I am not a engine builder, just a experienced 2-stroke home garage type, so if unsure ask a builder or piston manufacturer to be safe. fixitrod
It has been said that it will not help much if any. All it does is make the piston skirt week. If the skirt breaks your motor is toast.
scotts96fast
It has been said that it will not help much if any. All it does is make the piston skirt week. If the skirt breaks your motor is toast. In the pass I had a pro port my piston skirts on two motors and cracked the skirts twice.Last rebuild I did not do that and it's running strong now......grinding the windows make them very week and i didn't notice a big differents in power. PassionRE
On pistons with existing window ports, increasing the size to match porting produces minimal results at best. Using die grinders, dremels etc., create ultra high frequency's that will cause micro fractures throughout the piston skirt and will shell out your motor when you least expect it. The only way to properly do this job is with a face mill. Dont push your luck...Jim

Hiram
OK I see lots of negativity in this mod. I went to a performance builder by my neighborhood to ask about this mod and he had a wesico piston in his hand that he was boring out a bit and he said it adds mid-range. I also asked about instead using a Vito's power piston and he said just get a wesico instead becuase he has seen too many go bad and when they go they make major carnage. What do you guys make off this? I'm thinking of just buying Vito's power pistons and be done with it. I'm also thinking about port matching my cases to the jugs transfer ports. spoin39
I believe passionre, he is very good. I haven't had any problems for years on doing this but if he say's not good idea, I believe him.
Hiram
Any thoughts or experiences with port matching the case to the transfer tunnels. I will trim a old gaskit to the size of the transfer tunnels and then trace this to the case and grind away. I noticed it is only about 1-2 mm that will need to be grinded, but this will give it a unrestricted and uninterrupted flow up the port tunnels. fixitrod
Hiram, case matching is something that people do. I don't know how much is gained since the flow of fuel comes from the bottom ( which is usually smaller) to the top (which the tunnel on the cylinder is usually bigger than the case). If the cylinder were smaller, I could see it as a big benefit. As long as you have it apart though, go for it. The banshee can take whatever extra in the area of the transfers that it can get.
