hacksaw
I live in ohio and me and a couple of friends are leaving for glamis(heaven) for the first time around feb. 5. We were thinking of stopping somewhere in oklahoma and riding for a day if we could find somewhere that was kind of on the way. If anyone has any suggestions on a good place to ride so we could break up our 35 hour trip htat would be great. I think we might stop in arizona on the way back. Any advice about the dunes would also be helpful

BdBanshee
You could try Little Sahara in Waynoka OK. It is a good place to ride for sand trails and warm up dunes for Glamis. Try this link: http://www.waynoka.com/
STLBILL
Hi Guys: Well I agree with BansheeK. Although I have yet to go there, from all I've heard there is nothing like Glammis. Let's see between Ohio and California. That's a tough one (very sarcastic ). Let's assume the following route. It is probably the best to avoid the Northern Rocky's this time of year (been there - done that - not fun). I-70 to I-44 to I-40: 1. The BadLands in Indiana aren't too far off I-70 in Western Indiana. 2. Saint Joe State Park is a 1.5 hour detour down I-55 in Saint Louis. 3. ChadWick is a 30 minute detour off I-44 at Springfield (South). 4. Deepwater is an 1 hour detour off I-44 at Springfield (North). 5. Little Sahara in Waynoka, OK. I don't know about the rest of the route. I-70 to I-15 (see snow/avalanche warning above): 1. Same as above. 2. Same as above. 3. Finger Lakes in Columbia, MO. 4. Same as above only an hour South just before Kansas City. 5. Probably can get Rock Springs, WY just past Denver (not sure of distance) 6. Moab is just off I-70 in Utah (this is a lot of riding!) That should get you started on the major areas. You're taking in such a wide area it depends on how much research you do and how much time/money you have to spend. I think you're only missing a few places in the South, Oregon dunes, Pennsylvania (The Strippin's?) and New Jersey but I'm sure there are some places I haven't heard about... 94BansheeRider
If you want to stop to ride in Oklahoma, go to Little Sahara in Waynoka. It's like a cat litter box compared to Glamis, but is worth the while. I went to Glamis for the first time over Christmas, and now I'm bored with all the areas around here. It's AWESOME Have lots of fun.
