The way i sync the carbs is take the air filters off and look inside the carbs at the slides, adjust the idle screws on the top (stock carbs) untill the slide just seats on the bottom then turn the screws 1 full turn up for idle.

You mainly want them to go up and down at the exact same time. Watch them close when you just touch the throttle to see if they react at the same time and adjust accordingly.

Get yourself a clymers manual. You won't regret it & it will walk you through specifically on how to sync the carbs. ;)

If you look at the slides you'll see each has a little bearing on it. Then look at the carbs, you'll see that each one has a little 'window' that you can look into. When the carbs are in sync the bearing should be visable in both windows at the same time. Just go & look and hopefully you'll see what I'm talking about. It's not hard to do at all. ;)
