STLbanshee Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I just got done putting on my ssts and k&n with no air box lid, I changed the jets to a 280, but thats the only jets i changed, and its totaly not running right, when it starts, it wont idle, and it back fires, and if you dont stay on the gas it dies, but when it gets up into the higher rpm it runs fine...its running like the choke is on, do you think that the floats are stuck, or do I have to big of jets in there? HELP suppost to ride tommorow.. Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 this will help you out alot BenBB Jetting Page Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Mine back fired because it was to lean. I would think with pipes and no lid and may be an air filter you would need a few sizes bigger. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 The mains don't affect idle. Make sure the choke tube between the two carbs is in place, slides have the cutaways facing the air box, adjust the air screws, and sync the carbs....If the air screws like to be .5 turn out or less then get some larger pilots.. STLbanshee Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 why is it then when its running its boggin out, could there be like a air leak or something somewhere? SO you think im to lean? And like when you give it gas, and then let off the gas completly it like take a split second to rev down again? IM so lost..this is my first exprence with jetting..i just wanna ride.. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Like I said, check the choke tube between the carbs, look into the intake and look at the slides to see if the cutaway of the slides are facing the air box.. Quote
STLbanshee Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 what do you mean by seeing if the slides are facing the air box?? Quote
Banchetta Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 what do you mean by seeing if the slides are facing the air box?? Pull the air cleaner and look into the intake, you'll see what I mean, If you dont', then pull the slides back out and then you'll see and put them the right way.. Quote
spoin39 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 It sounds like you are too lean on the pilot, I think banchetta mentioned this already, go up a size on the pilot, turn the airscrew out a turn from where it is now and give that a try. Quote
