FORMULASPEED Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Im runnin the C.V. manifold with 35pwk with a 225 main jet Keihin only goes up to a 230 My plugs are a lite tan. What happens if I dump that 230 in and im still not a good dark tan? I have to wait for the bigger jet cause no one carries nothing that big. is this a large setting ? average temp is 10 f and sometimes colder Quote
Banchetta Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 sounds like the carb is too small...what are your mods?? Quote

dirtbike killer Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Your main jet sounds way to big. I have about the same amount of mods, minus the port work. I run a 175 main. You might need something a little bigger, but I dont thing that big. What pilot are you running? Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 my pilot is a 52 it dont like 55, shee grabs me by the ballz best w/ needle in middle , 195 main in summertime perfect calaberation Quote
dirtbike killer Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Why do you want bigger jets? Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 Cause its not summertime no more. its 10 degrees and a 225 dont look the same on my plug and in the process of getting a 230. Quote
Aussie Quad Racer Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 is your emultion tube too small and not allowing the fuel to get past the needle that the larger jet is trying to deliver? 2 things i have never seen anyone consider on this forum is emultion tube size and slide cutaway. Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 18, 2004 Author Report Posted January 18, 2004 Aussie Quad Racer Posted on Jan 18 2004, 06:34 AM can you elaberate a little? Quote
Aussie Quad Racer Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 ive had it happen before, emultion tube and needle have a smaller area than the main to let fuel out so the main jet is not playing any part. You can either change needles and emultion tubes to suit the needles or run power jets. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Some tech guy at trinity told me to run eek needles but you can call them and ask for your situation. Quote
Banchetta Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I agree w/ Aussie, you should only have to go up a few sizes for the winter....The tube the needle sits in is probably restricting gas flow....I'd call Keihin and see what they say about it...... Quote
dirtbike killer Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Yeh, something is blocking fuel. I thought maybe you did some mod to it. I only go a couple larger on the pilots in the winter. Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 19, 2004 Author Report Posted January 19, 2004 I still got to try that 230 but a you say a power jets huh. I this what this thing is on this mikuni I have? Im not sure what size it is I micd it the way Keihin shows for there carbs I dont know if mikuni is the same. There site SUX. The floats slide on rods in the bowl it has a 200 main in it. here is a couple of pics Quote
