bluebanshee2003
What's Up All, I have a K&N Air Filter and a Boost Bottle. I want to remove the airbox lid snorkel but when i do my bike bogs and smokes really bad out of one of the pipes. Any suggestions on what to do here (Jets, Pre-Mix Ratio, etc.) Thanx, bluebanshee2003
wesw
you need to tell us more about what you got done. what pipes, etc, and elevation if it was me i would run the box with the lid off with a pro design plate and jet it from there
bluebanshee2003
All stock except the Boost Bottle and K&N. 10 to 20 ft. above sea level No Pipes
blk02banshee
If you have stock jetting with the K&N and no snorkle, you could be way lean. Depends on your elevation, though.
sheeweet
your at sea level & depending on the temperature where you are you need to get some bigger mains, 3 to 6 sizes bigger. Adjust the air screws too. Try this, ride it around with the choke pulled out to the first notch (half way out) and see if the performance improves in all throttle position ranges (0-1/4, 1/4-3/4, 3/4-full throttle). If it is better like that then you know you need to go with bigger main jets. Adjust 0-1/4 throttle response with the air screws. I don't think you will need to adjust needle positions. Be certain the air filter you put on is sealed perfectly and clamped tight.

Banchetta
I'd throw some 240-250 mains in there, leave the needles stock, stock pilot, adjust air screws to the best throttle response of powerband.....Then run it wide open throttle in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop, pull the plugs...Black is rich, brown is perfect, tan or white is lean......Thanks for the compliment gato!! Like banchetta said, stock pilots and needle position. Adjust the air screws and a 240-250 main should be pretty close. I ran a 240 main with the airbox lid off with a foam pro design filter in warm weather, around 80 degrees. Just remember air temp can make a difference. It can change the size of the mains a few sizes either way. I would save up and get a cheap set of pipes for now and jet for them with the filter and lid off. I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference with the lid off. But pipes were huge when I first started modding! That way you will only have to dial it in once.
