bkabina Posted January 17, 2004 Report Share Posted January 17, 2004 Yes it can be tuff.You have to hold the shock push the top of the spring down until you can get the ring off of the top of the spring.The ring is held in place by the spring. In a pinch you can use a vise to compress the spring, and use several large zip ties to hold the spring compressed while you unscrew the eye from the shock shaft. This is very dangerous, and without enough very large zip ties the spring will snap back and either hurt you or at the very least scare the crap out of you! Posted January 18, 2004 Report Share Posted January 18, 2004 You can rent a spring compressor from your local auto zone, etc. They require the price of the tool for a deposit, but you get it all back when you return the tool.
