PyRo_ZaCh
A friend of mine was telling me he would race hair scrambles with his modded 400ex in the summers, I have a mostly stock banshee right now (air filter, 5gal gas tank, renthal bars, 6-pack rack) he said all I need to get into them is AMA membership (dont have that yet) helmet, chest protector(need that too), and quad with a teather kill (need to find a teather kill). I guess I could get all that at a local shop, but is there any thing else that i would need or that would greatly help?
blk02banshee
Tires. If you are running stock tires, you might have a little trouble, but depends on the course. I have'nt raced one yet, but have seen a lot of harescramble courses, and I think stock tires would suck.
spoin39
Tires definately! Go with 22" on the back and a 22-23" on the front, works great in the woods. Also a steering stabilizer, a drinking system is nice and make sure you go through the quad good and locktite it all. You can't win a Hare or a GNCC if you don't finish! OH, make sure those tires are a 6 ply so less chance of flats.
fixitrod
Nerf bars. You'll want nerfs to keep others tires out of yours and they can be handy for spinning around trees. Depending on the track, eventually you may want suspension but you won't want to go wider. That can get really tight in the woods and +2 makes it tough. Just go and have fun man. That's what it's about.
PyRo_ZaCh
I got 21'' mudsharks on the back now and i'm gettin a set of bandits off my frined soon for the front, would that work? also I'm short on cash so am i guna finish the race without 6ply tiers and nerfbars? well its still winter here so i guess i got a few months to see if i'm guna do this. Meat
Pyro where is this hairscrable. They race em at Pine Grove\flyin dutchman. I went to a hairscramble race thier last year, it was pretty cool. I might try a race or 2 this season. You allready got the big gastank, thats cool. Razr2's are really popular with the gncc guys. Id get those, 22 in the rear and 22 or 23 up front. Full skidplates. Nerf are optional, they dont require em in xc. Keep your airfilter clean, there's lots of water and mud so waterproof the airbox. Keep the quad narrow.
PyRo_ZaCh
i dont know, my friend said they were all over around here, as for the skid plates their all stock right now, its starting to look like i'm going to have to save up some money and set the quad up for doing this.
