Mods For 04 Banshee

Thats an outstanding start. I would just add some good rear tires and you should be good to go for a few years. When the engine needs rebuilding/boring get it ported and polished and have the crank trued and welded. That will last you a few more years as well. Depending on your riding, and looking at your pipe choice, just get the CPI's right off the bat. My stock Banshee has T-5's, cool head, V-Force and Pro Design foam filter and plate and if I had it to do all over again, knowing porting/polishing and boring is eminant for that shee I would have just gotten the CPI's. I have CPI's and porting along with some other items on the below listed Shee and it is a huge improvement over my stock one with pipes, head etc.

I need everyones opinion on the mods I am planning on getting for my 04 banshee. I want a set of Toomey pipes either T5 or T6 w/2:1 filter,V-force reeds and  noss cool head. What do you think? What other mods can I do that will make noticable power besides porting?

Thanks

i think CPI inframes are a better choice, but if you are going to leave your bike stock then T-6's are for you.....if you plan on porting it later then T-5 are better. But if I had a choice between all 3 I would go with the CPI's..... You'll thank yourself later.

Currently having both pipes on two completely different shees the CPI's and T-5's are in fact, very similar. The CPI's work great with a ported motor although I dont have any experience with them on a stock motor. The T-5's work great on the stock motor shee but again, I have nothing to compare it to when it comes to a ported shee with the T-5's. I suspect that the CPI's will outperform the T-5s on the ported shee and will test that out this summer. I am not aware of an overly huge loss of the bottom end with either pipe as well. Hope I didnt confuse you with all of this, just some of my observations.

Not dissin the CPI's or anything, they are a good pipe. My friends and I drag and hillclimb alot, one has CPI's and the other has T6's, both are stock and both are very good riders, the T6's are about 1-1/2 bike lengths behind me and the CPI's are just behind him everytime. You can see my mods so that is why they are behind me but this is just my experience firsthand. The CPI's are good, I just personally like the Toomey's!

On just a ported engine they work good, if you change the port-timing then the T5's are better. I had a long conversation with a tech there and this is the confusion. Porting is OK for the T6, but if the port-timing is changed you will see more gains with the T5's. The more it is modified "internally" the better the T5's outperform the T6's. I posted my conversation in a mods/parts forum somewhere awhile back.

One of the techs there told me that the T6s w/reeds only will out perform the T5s w/reeds and cool head. He said hes not sure if it will make or loose power running cool head on the T6s. Can anyone tell me if they are making or loosing any power with the T6s w/reeds and a cool head?

Thanks everyone.

Your not going to lose power running a cool head with correct domes with any pipe application. If you fall prey to the horsepower bug later down the road, and you will, steer clear from the T-6 and go with a T-5 or CPI. And contrary to popular belief, the CPI's are a pretty damn good torque pipe with the right porting combo regardless of what they were originally designed for.....Jim

I am pretty sure I wont be porting my banshee. I heard the cpis work great on ported motors thats why I kinda want Toomeys instead. I just cant decide on the T5s or T6s. Toomey said that the T6s were specifically designed for a stock bike and if I put a cool head on, he said it might mess with the way the power band hits and maybe even the performance even with the correct domes. Thats why I asked.
