BansheeRider576
im looking at getting a pair of Keihn 28 pwk's.... I heard these are the best carbs you can get without sacraficing bottom end and power...... These carbs im looking at have a 30mm taper bore on them would this affect my bottom end as much as just getting 30mm would????
Aussie Quad Racer
i put 34mm carbs on from the stock 26. I would not go back to 26mm carbs!!! If there tuned properly and you have good throttle control you will not loose and mid or bottom.
.
The 28's taperbored to 30's are supposed to be one of the best trail/mx style setups out there. Go to www.lrdperformance.com with the setup they run, any other carb setup will lose power.
itsaripper
To use the added carb you should put on a aftermarket head with like 20cc domes. Port your reed cages and get some TDR reeds, or get v-force II reed cages. Advance your timing about four degrees and run some higher octane gas. Get some K&N pod air cleaners or toomy upright one into two air cleaner. Now your motor can kinda handle the added gas. That LRD web site puts the carb mod at about last as far as where to go to add hp to the banshee.
Minkia38
i have 34mm and i noticed a drop in bottom end - pretty noticable. it was properly jetted on a dyno too....
Banchetta
I put 34's on my shee and lost 8hp on top and lost a lot of bottom as well. I did everything I could to dial those in.....including 3 different needles, needle height, 5 different size pilots, and mains....

Just for fun
So what are you running now? What, in your opinion is the best carb set up? Particularly for a ported, polished and bored motor.
Banchetta
I'd have to say stock carbs for my setup, but I"m running midrange pipes.....I'm sure the high revs w/ porting will benefit more from larger carbs, but how much is the question....BTW, I lost hp across the whole curve w/ ported stock carbs also....
