2004LEBanshee Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Ok my she was jetted at around 35 degrees and ran great. I am going on a trip this weekend and on one day it is going to be around 10 high and the other is supposed to be like 27 high. I dont want to have to rejet for one day but dont want to blow my shit up. I was wondering if I can mix my gas to like 40 something to one instead of 32:1. Will this help or is it just stupid. I run Castor 927 by the way. The man who jetted it said if it got real cold out I could just be easy on it, but I dont know. Any tips would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks Quote
blk02banshee Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Changing to 40:1 will make it richer as far as air/fuel goes, but it's still risky. You should be ok, as long as you stay out of the mains(don't hold full throttle) and don't hold 1 throttle position too long. Go up and down with it. You might have to turn your airscrews in a little to get low end response. Quote
spoin39 Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Actually going from32:1 to 40:1 is leaning it out. If there is only a 10-20 degree difference it will be fine, just not perfect. I would stay at 32:1 to be on the safe side. Quote
BenBB Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 40:1 would be a richer air/fuel ratio than 32:1; less oil so more fuel per volume. You might be on the edge of lean at 10 degrees, but you should be OK as long as you take it easy and be wary of any signs of overheating or bad lean (like backfire, revving high & fast with no power). One thing to consider; do you run the stock airbox? If say, it was jetted for no lid, you could just put the lid on for the colder weather (without the snorkel), it'll be roughly equivalent to jetting the mains one size richer (you may lose some power becuase the airflow is restricted but the chances of a meltdown are lesser)...or if it's jetted for the lid on now you could go up a size on the mains and pull the lid off when it warms up outside and runs a little boggy... 2004LEBanshee Posted January 10, 2004 Author Report Posted January 10, 2004 What about possibly tapeing the part that is cut in the back. Quote
National Banshee Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 Why are you running your jetting so tight? Watch your plugs, jet it accordingly. If you are lean, your going to have to richen your jetting. One size isn"t going to make that much diffence on a hot day, just richen up your mains. Stick with your original fuel mixture. Quote
