smokin350
so this is the deal put the 404 in the t5's,k&n open lid no oterware just cause i didn't have one yet the coolhead and 94 octane and 300 main jets i did a compression check and the first time it said like 210 then i did it again and it was 160 so i guess that was fine. took it out it was freezing out it started idled then i took it out putted around for a while then a little antifreeze came out of the head to i torqed the head down a littlemore cause it said 20 pounds isn't that to little. anyways i then antifreeze came out of this hose behind the radiator i guess an oflow than i gave it a little more gas then checked the lugs and they seemed fine put new ones in putted around some more then hammered it alittle and it sound like at high rpm like there was not enough oil getting to the piston but no loss in power or anything also off the line it putts then it kicks in idk any advice then i let it coll down and started it and it was only fireing out of one cylinder then pulled the choke a little out and it seemed to run better with the choke stuck on the first postion idk i need help just dont know where to start soory the novel just so much to say oh it also has a mild port job from magic racing with 18cc domes custom cut for 94 octane hepl from anyone would be awsome i usally talk to fixitrod but he just signed off while i was writing this but any questions i ever have i look on the board and i don't even have to ask it cause it's already anwsered this site rules
Meat
ok so you a vitos 404 kit correct ?? First thought is those 18cc domes producing 210 & then 160 PSI, your going to need hi-octane race gas, at minimum a 50\50 mix. Did you "break the motor in" yet ? How did you do it ? Your compression quickly dropping from 210 to 160 and the pressurized spurting radiator could be both caused by a busted head O-ring. Is your radiator still leaking or coming out the overflow ?? Your main jets are too small. I ride a ported vitos BB sleeve, fmf fattys, v-force, trixxhead with 24cc domes. You guys remember Eric from the Mobile Dyno later changed to 4 wheel thunder...... he said that any cc under 24cc would require race gas. My engine guy agreed so im running 24cc big bore domes and 94 octane Sunoco pump gas. Im still using the stock carbs, my summer main jets are 360's or 370s. I just went up to 390s for the colder weather, I havent rode since the beginning of December, but the 390 mains were pretty close at say mid 50 degrees during October and November. You only have 300's in there, and you said its freezing out. Id think your pretty lean. Also, im using 30 pilots and vitos needles for ported cylinders on the 3rd notch. Im using a Toomey 2:1 UNI air filter, no airbox. edit, iv been running this vitos 404 kit for 3 years now and no engine failures yet. I have the head off it now and the sleeves are starting to show some wear. Im pretty sure that im going to rebuild the top end this winter. Its due, im happy with 3 years of hard riding. Hopefully I wont need a bore. Im on the first bore yet, thats something like 392cc. Edited January 9, 2004 by Meat
bri98
Yeah what Meat said, ALSO if the coolant prob is not an O-Ring (it probably is) this happened when I had my big bore sleeves installed, on one cylinder the sleeve dropped down .003-.004 lower than the deck ( top of cylinder) you could not see it but you could FEEL it with your fingernail, this caused the o-ring not to completely compress so compression was pushing coolant out the overflow. Luckily my builder hooked me up and fixed it with no B.S.
