Justintoxicated
Hey I think My Head is leaking coolant. You know where the coolant hose hooks into the front of the head (towards the front of the shee). Well it does not appear to be leaking from the hose, but it appears the aluminum piece that is mounted into the head has a slow leak. Im not sure it's serious (only saw a couple drops)but what can I do to fix it? Ill keep an eye on it for this weekends ride. And post if it continues to leak. dlnoss
I use sealer on the fitting bolt threads to prevent coolant from leaking through the threads and to keep the screws from vibrating loose but: If it is leaking there first check that the two socket head screws are tight. If they are tight and it's still leaking, remove them, coat the threads with silicone sealer and then reinstall them. If you go as far as to remove and reinstall the fitting, check and make sure that there isn't a burr on the hole keeping the fitting from fitting up against the head flush. Will yamabond work? Clear RTV silicon? or do I need to buy something else? Also the piece can be removed without removing the head right? (sounds dumb but I didn't look it over all that well when the head was off) Its not leaking much, jsut a few drops here and there.
dlnoss
Yamabond will work fine or clear RTV. Try just tightening them first. You don't have to remove the head to remove the fitting.
