ledofthezep
checking to see if everything is tight goes for any bike and has nothing to do with the 2 cycle motor, wait until your doing a top end on the four stroke.......id suggest you just start the bansh and go....who gives a shit if parts fall off cause they are not tight...before i ride my bike ill go around it with a 12,14,17,19 mm wrench just for shits and grins...same as id do if it was a four stroke.....i dont like pushing bikes through the desert, id rather ride em.......... Right on Blue...well said. I'm the same way, call me weird; but I kinda enjoy maintaining my rides & am a freak about it. I get bored & look for things to do, and checking if stuff's tight every once in a while--why the hell wouldn't ya? It beats sitting around & drinking beer--at least ya got something to do! hehe And the only shitting thing about mixing gas is having to buy the oil. It doesn't take a rocket scientist or much time. But I now have my banshee, and a '01 400EX for the g/f--got rid of 'her' banshee for it(after I took all the goodies ). I'm happy with the EX, got a good deal & came out on top in the trade, it's a good quad, fun to ride, and what she wanted--predictable power. She'll still ride my banshee for the thrill of it though. I don't know that I'd part with my shee for a thumper, maybe a highly modded YFZ if I get hardcore into MX--but then still I'd probably trade the EX on one and still keep my banshee. Especially on the dunes, it doesn't get much better than a ride on the banshee--the power, adrenaline, sound, & the smell of that exhaust is better than bacon in the morning! Keep your banshee, quit your wine'n, and go ride.
spoin39
Haven't had any problems with mine, I race it , ride about 3 times a month w/friends, modify it, and run the shit out of it. I just check it all out every other ride, keep it clean, oiled, greased. Hell, I haven't even changed the plugs since I bought it in OCT 2001! lian
how much does a rebiuld cost for a shee and what is need and whats the process
bigboybanshee
how much does a rebiuld cost for a shee and what is need and whats the process I'd say if you shop right you'd be able to rebuild the top end and change the crank seal for $200 bucks; given you do the work yourself. You can get a deal on ebay for some pistons ($120) and I'd just run to the stealership and pick up your gaskets and seals($50). If you pick up a Clymers manual it will walk you through the whole process step by step, and tell you which tools you need. Took me about a weekend's time working lazily. Depeding on what seals you are looking for, I think I know someone that can get them at a better price than Yamaha
sandman121383
ya seriously, u gotta consider just the top end alone. cam, rockers, springs, timing chain and gears, rods n all the toprque specs have 2 be EXACT . . . a banshee is a much simpler and more dependable machine than a raptor. but if its a thumper ur after ride a new yamaha 450 b4 u buy a raptor. i heard nothing but god things about em. all else y not sell ur banshee and get a newer or brand new one! good luck decision making!
