Chemical Castration
I sold my swingarm a while back (changed my setup but thats a diff story) and the guy I sold it to said he needed it in a hurry so asked if I could send it through UPS and have it COD, I did have problems in the past with UPS taking forever to send me my cash after I sent something COD but I had to only wait a couple weeks. Well the guy received the swingarm on the 17th, and I have been waiting very patiently, and today I received an email from the guy that bought my swinger and he said that UPS contacted him asking for my address so they could know where to send my money... WTF! Why would they contact the god damn customer to ask where the money is supposed to go??!?!?!?!?! So I called UPS and asked what was going on and the first lady told me that my info isnt in the system so she was gonna send a message to the COD dept. and they would call me within the hour. After a few hours passed by I called them again and I talked to this guy, he told me the same thing and that they didnt have my info in the computer but they had the other guys info so they were asking him for my info since they lost mine!!!! Even the guy that I was talking to felt stupid because this makes no fuckin sense at all! So after putting me on hold 5 times he tells me that they sent out my check on the 23rd and that I have to wait 10 business days for it (Jan 9th) and if it doesnt show up then I have to file a complaint. I then asked the guy why is it that a minute ago the system didnt have my info and now the check is on its way to me? And he pretty much said that even though my name isnt in the system they can still send it out to my addy. So I dont fuckin know whats going on anymore. Has anybody on here had any problems shipping anything COD? Is it a pain in the ass to get your money if UPS loses it? PS to the moderators I realize this sounds like im bashing UPS but im really asking for advise on what to do if this check doesnt show up so please dont move this to the roosting room I'm just upset right now and I'm extremely concerned abot my money. Cotton eyed Joe
Consider this topic moved. Seriously.... Call them tomorrow, if you have the patience, and go through this again. See if you get the same answer. Its also wise to collect the names or employee numbers of people you talk to. This story sounds similar to what I went through this summer. I had problems with Utah Power not reading my meter. I call the 1-800# and I talk to some woman in Oregon. She proceeds to tell me I can read my own meter. I tell her I won't. Its why I pay a power bill. This happens about 6 times until I get a letter telling me that they are going to relocate my meter and bill me for it if I dont clear the obstruction. There are 2 gates, one on each side of my house to access the back yard. I talk to my buddy (who is a meter reader in the area around my shop) about this, and he tells me the 1-800# is a BS line. No business ever gets done, they just talk to irate cusomters. THATS IT. He gave me his supervisors office number, and within 2 days (after mentioning the Divison of Consumer Affairs) I had someone with some brains come out to read my power meter. You might need to do some snooping to find out who is in charge in your area. Is there a local UPS driver you can talk to about who his boss is or someone you could call directly rather than the complaint number? The UPS driver that shows up to my shop usually has enough time to bullshit for a minute or two. Good luck Lefty

Holyman
never, never, NEVER send something COD!!! It took me over a month to get my COD payment. If they need it that bad, get Paypal. The funds are immediate in most cases and both parties have some recourse if things don't work out.

boonman
I have never had a problem with UPS. I have had more problems with the USPS. I maybe prefer to use UPS because they come here every day. They send a truck to the plant every day that is devoted to our stuff. it's the only thing on the truck. I don't see how they could not guarantee you something just because you're not a business. It depends on where you live. I guess if you are 50 miles from the nearest place that one of their trucks go, that could be a problem. I don't ever use COD though..... 2001SSTBanshee
How bout this I just went through- I wired $350 Western Union to a friend that had a tire blowout a couple hours away from my house. No tire shops in this area had a 20" tire. so I drove and picked him and his car up instead. He never got the money out. A few weeks later I find my original recipt and call the # to see how to get my money back. They tell me they "paid it out"! To who?? My boy is right here and he dam sure did'nt get that money!!! WU tells me they will investigate, wait 2-3 days. Yesterday they call me back and say "Yeah its been paid out". but thats all they will tell me. Supposedly to the person I sent it to. After dam near interrogating the lady I get her to tell me that it was paid in Montecello GA. I tell her this a fraud or something, and that they have to do something else. "WE werent defrauded" she says. "We investigated it and now we're done" I was pissed. I called the sherriff's office in Montecello GA. Luckily the deputy actually took me serious and followed everything up. He traced it, called me back and heres the story I got. Supposedly, someone in GA with the same last name as the person I was trying to send the money to was expecting money from someone. He went in a WU office and asked if there was any money for him. The clerk tells him there's money for that last name but the first name is different. She tells him the name its under, and the guy is like "oh thats my kid".Now this guy goes and gets his 12 yr old kid and WU gives him my money!!! Coincidentally, the same name?? Maybe, probably? I can't decide yet. WU called me back last night with a compleately different attitude. Asking me to fax copies of the person that I wanted to recieve the money and his signatue notarized 3 times. I did it this morning. Now they say I can go get it back finally. They will even give me back the "fee".
BdBanshee
I also use UPS regularly, never a problem. They have never lost anything, or damaged anything, and stuff always gets to where I ship it when they said it would. USPS on the other hand is another story.............
