BansheeBoy17
Alright heres the story ... my banshee heats up to over 220 degrees (temp guage doesnt go any higher ), and then I shut it down and let it rest. Then get back on it when its at about 100 degrees... then in about a minute its back at 220+ so i let it cool down again, and again, and so on... It just started doing this last week so I thought it was really lean, but Its not the jets because I changed them many times with no difference. I, and other people may think its the water impeller. so far, I took the water pump cover and the cover thats inside that off and some anti freeze leaked out. Are you suposed to be able to turn the impeller 360 degrees by hand? I heard that from somebody but they werent sure if it was or not. Any other information on what it could be would be great. ( by the way - I didnt change ANY hoses / coolant level / etc at all! It was running fine until I ran it in the cold weather ( 30 degrees F, then it started doing this)
NYUK
take the clutch cover off and see if the plastic gear is toast.
Wassup350
It's your jetting then. If you haven't changed it for cold weather jetting you should go up a main jet size or two and turn in your pilot air screw a half or even a full turn. since its colder out it causes it to run lean. You say that it ran fine till you ran it in cold weather so thats my only thought. I heard that you should go up a main jet size for ever 10 degree decrease. Thats my only thought, as long as your impeller isnt cracked it should be fine. I'm not sure though im not an expert on this, its just my two cents. rebelbanshee2
well if it turns very easy id say the gear is toast. its geared right to the crank so i dont think the impeller should turn too easy. pul the clutch cover and check for damage
Klotz
im also guessing its the gear.. i have a custom temp gauge from canadian tire and i just cut the hose with the rad fluid and stuck it in there with hose clamps..not the greatest but it works....ne ways....the step broke because i hit a tree branch and anti freeze was leaking so mine only goes up to 220 also and it was maxed..and i did the same thing..so all it was ...was low coolant...i dunno but i still think its the gear in your case
BansheeBoy17
I filled the coolant tanks to the top, gonna try it out tomorrow and if it still does the same thing then I'll pull the clutch cover off. I'll keep you guys updated
