It doesnt help a lot but it works What the hell kind of tip is this? this would just make it harder to clean your airbox and besides this is why you oil your filters and/or put an outerwears on them. On my dirt bikes I always buy a little rubber gasket type deal called a Pro Seal so I dont have to grease the edge anymore. All my ATV's always have the flange/ hoseclamp style filter setup and grease would make that more prone to slip off. I use WD-40 a lot to clean mine a lot to, but that is more of a degreaser. I also spray WD-40 on my whole bike (except brakes and chain) after washing it to make it look good and keep it from rusting. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
banshee04le Posted January 7, 2004 Report Share Posted January 7, 2004 What the hell kind of tip is this? i dont know what it has to do with greasin you airbox but for any of you guys out there that dont have at least a cheap air compressor...get one. indespensable carb cleaning assistance and will also enable you to blow dry your machine after washing. take the front and rear plastics off and then lightly mist every bit of that bad boy with wd-40...then shees too purty to get dirty. banshee04le Posted January 7, 2004 Report Share Posted January 7, 2004 i meant take the plastic off so that you could better mist the rest of the machine with wd40, without getting it on your plastic. i read in dirtwheels about wiping your plastic down with cooking oil to keep the mud from sticking to it. i havent noticed that it makes washing my machine any easier, but it sure makes her shine. my black plastic is kind of dull after washing and drying...compared to how it looks when i "oil" the plastic. it looks kick ass then. looks good on the black anyway. Best thing I have used yet.Easy clean up, they shine better than wd-40 and arent greasy. Armor All is the shiz nit keep using it, wd-40 leaves a film behind. dude, read again...i never said anything about using wd40 on the plastic. armor all may be better than wd40 on the plastic (ive never tried wd40 on the plastic) but it is not better for the rest of the machine. wd40 has corrosive inhibiting properties, armor all does not. BansheeBrian Posted January 8, 2004 Report Share Posted January 8, 2004 Spraying your airbox with wd40 is a good idea.I do it for sandy conditions.It still is a little bit of a mess to clean but if it prevents debris from getting to the fiter I'm all for it.Just as long as it isnt so wet with WD40 that it starts attacking the air filter oil.
