Meats Playground,the Strippins!

Recommended Posts

the place is pretty cool. there's no groomed mx tracks to ride, no one takes care of the land so its not the easiest terrain to ride. It gets rocky and muddy alot. Coal Hill sits on the very end of a tract of land we call the strippins. Its a valley that run behind the towns of Shamokin and Treverton. Its about 10 miles from one of the strippins to the other end. The valley is about a mile wide, maybe 2 miles wide at places. So your looking at alot of useless strip mined land to tear up. I live near the Shamokin end of the strippins, Coal Hill sits at the other end, 8 miles away from my house. Coal Hill is at the Treverton end. I can ride out of my backyard and into the woods. A minute ride through the woods and im on the main haul road that goes all the way through the strippins. This road is "the mile road" cause it takes you right past a big man made lake called "the mile". Coal Hill area ususally gets the most traffic. Deep in the middle of the strippins theres places like 'the sand pits', "the project" and "mud road". There's giant abandon strip mine cranes rusting around, sometimes you'll see trash and tires and some places there are sinkholes from mine subsidance. These abandon strip mines are all over Pa, like the big one in Hazleton. Our trails here are similar to Rausch Creeks trails.
