a banshee would be better if its gonna be hill climbing, wide open spaces and dunning. but i would say for woods, track, and a few other things you would be better off going with a 400ex or a 250r, i have a banshee and I'm setting it up for hare scrambling right now and it does take quit a bit outta you wallet, but i would say if you can't find a banshee set-up up for woods and stuff already go for the 400ex or 250r. just my .02

why do people always ask the same questions of course everyone in www.BANSHEEHQ.com will say you should get a banshee. and everyone in a 400 forum will say get the 400 it depends where you go. how you ride and skill play a factor too if you ride some of these then you can decide what you like and only you can decide that not us.

I don't know why you have choosen the 400ex as a comparasion. It leaves much to be desired in every department.

The banshee is superior for climbs and duning. The 250R is mx superior via its superb handling.

The banshee is adequate on trail riding because in its stock form it tends to make all of its power at a higher rpm which was something that I never rode at on most trails. This is easy to overcome and you would have the same problem with the 250R. Not to sway your thoughts on a banshee, it has the most aftermarket parts available. OEM parts are abundant, technical advice is free via this forum.

In all honesty, I would highly recommend the yamaha banshee to you in my unbiased opinion. I have been riding one since 1990 with no regrets or major problems.

i started on a blaster. if youve mastered the blaster, you may be ready

for a banshee. dont get one unless your gonna ride it like its meant to

be riden...banshee riders got to represent. if everyone rode them like their meant to be ridden...it would be more universally known how they rule.

best thrill for dollar value in a quad ;)

Agreed, Banshee. You can customize it anyway you want. CPI's or Toomeys for duning/dragging, Gnarlies for woods, SST's, Fatties or Pro circuits for any combo. You can go to a single carb for more low end or two big carbs for your top end. Its up to you. And remember, the shee has been around since 87, many, many parts to be had out there. All this and you still have a vast collection of suspension components to choose from as well. Banshee is the quad, hands down.

i should have been more pacific when i said blaster.....my blaster has about 1700 into it. it will beat 400ex's.....it has toomey p/s,hollywood dirt port design 3, milled and proped turbo head, reeds, reed spacer, k&n, oil injection block off, 14 tooth front sprocket, cfm air scoops,9 inch alumium offset rims, a plus 4 swingarm gettin fitted, new sea cover, custom paint job, 250r rear shock, 6 pac rack, white bros front bumper, and a few other things i cant think of right now. beats z's off the line but they do eventually catch up and i beat 400ex's. i have been riding for years now and have had experience with 2 stroke....it was all i owned

i no it will be a big jump but i can handle it the speed of my quad is getting boring. and if the banshee handleing is ne hting liek tha blaster it will be ok then cuz i dont really have ne problems with my handleing......and by just adding reeds and reed spacers that should give a shee good low end right

Get a banshee. 400ex's are not fast! When will people realize this. If you want a 400 get kfx or one of the other 15 look alikes. The ex is by far the slowest. And quit saying that the banshee is not for trails. I only ride trails and it flies I can keep up or go faster then all my friends raptors, kfx's, or what ever I'm with. As for the 250r I would not get it because it's old hard to find and parts are drying up. Banshee shit is everywhere. For the last time quit saying that a banshee is only good for dunes it getting old and it's bull shit. The only time it might suck is if you ride really slow like some old lady, so if you do sell the banshee because I am sick of people who cant ride giving it a bad name. If you decide to get it you need to make it your personal obligation everytime you ride to make all these dum 4 stroke riders feel like they got screwed when they were told buy some dum redneck sales man that these raptors, suzukies, and what ever are better bikes. If you cant do this get a 400ex and one of us will do it to you.

Sorry about the anger dumb people at work piss me off!

I would go R. My bro has one, and he is faster from bottom end, up thru the top end. His handles way better, and is frankly cheaper to mod(only one cylinder, carb...). My other bro has a race ready 440ex. It handles well, but is to wide for woods, and doesnt really have any speed, but its good for mx and jumping. The shee is all bout speed. I would go R, if i was ridin that type of stuff. Just mi experience.

Peace out.

sorry about that i just heard that they sucked in trails but now that i have herd that there good from someone who rids int he woods i feel better and i am leaning toward one....can someone just inform me the comon maintaince problems with shee's? it would be greatly apreciated

Maintenance problems really none. But there is some work that you have to stay on top of.

1. Get jetted correctly first. If you jet in 30 degree wether in the winter time for example in summer go down 1-2 jet sizes or the other way for summer to winter.

2. Every couple rides, commen sensus here is about every three rides need to change case oil. No big deal 1.5 quarts of 10 w30 what the book recommends. Or use expensive stuff such as bellray. No different then 4 stroke but more often and no filter.

3. Be sure to check plugs every now and then to watch for lean condition.

4. Check chain slack, Brakes, lube chasis, and air pressure. Just like every bike.

5. Be sure to check and make sure your air filter is clean!

6. Buy a mix right and mix oil correctly everytime.

Thats all I can think of now.
