itsmyforte
look in the manual of your receiver, it will tell you what else you need for the SM to work. most likely an additional antenna, and then you just have to call or sign up on the internet at www.xmradio.com if you sign up online like i did they throw out the setup fee of $12. you must pay by CC or debit each month, quarterly or yearly. i had it since day after christmas and though its got a good selection of music to choose from the sound quality is not very good. its bearable but FM has a wider frequency response. I noticed that too, i doesnt sound that good IMO. The music channels on Direct TV sound quality is better! I was kinda dissapointed. Also if you have a unit in your house and a unit in your car you have to pay for BOTH (yearly or whatever) They do give you a discount on the secound acct. but not that much. Actually, I think Im gonna go return my unit and cancel my "two years for 199" that really turned out to be a $228.83 charge to the cc. evil
ok, me and the woman went to best buy, they dont have it for the sony radio then to circuit city, they never heard of it then to the good guys, they said the reciever is xm ready and that i needed to buy a brain and an antena for it and that was about 300 bucks,,,,but they discontinued the brain and its only available from sony, if they still make it how can a reciever thats been out for less then a year have stuff discontinued so fast and if the manuel says its xm ready what kind of shit is that ???? this is pissing me off a bit. thanks for all your input though guys. later
Stylemaster
XM hasnt really taken off yet up here. but a few of my friends have it and yes finding that brain is going to be a bitch. my buddy kris had a helluva time trying to fine one for his deck. he eventually got one from a reputable car audio shop (thats what they do. audio only) and they managed to spot the brain on ebay or something. its not bad quality either i find. you can get stations with unedited limp bizkit or whatever. good luck but check these places ebay, mabye try futureshop if you havent already thats the best i can do for ya
