NYUK
tsubaki or regina. the chains will out last the bike. regina gold chain is pre stretched. i never had to adjust my chain. i run a high tensile tsubaki non o ring for draggin. same deal never stretches.worth every penny. i went the cheap route 1 time with a did non o ring, every time i had to gas up the chain needed to be tightened, on a 75 hp bike. ledofthezep
tsubaki oem chain To hell with that! I've toasted 2, stretched to shit in no-time....well; maybe 2 hours. RK chains suck IMHO too. Maybe I just got shitty luck? hehe Kinda odd to hear good things about them chains when I've had nothing but problems with them. I'll stick with DID from now on...seem to be the best of any I've tried.
Nighty
Blue Deuce, in what kind of oil do you soak your chain? The did chain i have now is a whole chain. so no master link. Soaking will be a lot of work! I better get a master link and cut the chain for easy maintainance.
MILO
i have the did x-ring and like it so far. i haven't had it off again to thoroughly clean it yet, and have only had to adjust it a few times. i usually do daily lubes when i get home from a ride not before i go out. i'll wash the whole thing, then put the chain lube on before i put it away and give it time to soak in, rather than fling it all off right away from riding. supposedly it soaks in anyway. did atv x-ring, renthal sprockets, and bel-ray lube. no problems as of yet. i've done the chain on my cbr in kerosene to clean it then soaked it in 20w-50 oil, and wiped it clean. that seems to help it too. Blue Duece
Blue Deuce, in what kind of oil do you soak your chain? The did chain i have now is a whole chain. so no master link. Soaking will be a lot of work! I better get a master link and cut the chain for easy maintainance. i have a few chains....ill use 30 weight oil in a coffee can first i swish it around in gas....then put it in the oil can for a day or 2 hang it on a coat hanger to drip and wipe the out side clean with a rag, what i dont like about the orings are they are big and heavy, and unless lubed good kink, with your rear end on a block spin your tire with the big oring chain, notice how the tire might do 2 revolutions, now use the cheap shitty oem chain, it spins pretty free, when new they stretch, but to me thats not a big deal, the one im useing now has about 30 hours on it and ive adjusted it once after about a hour of riding.....i can go through 3 cheap chains instead of one expensive chain, plus my sprockets are cherry from not haveing that big fatty chewing on them.....i would have went to a master link day one, like i said spraying that sealed oring chain with shit just makes a mess and doesnt oil the chain.......i can adjust my cheap chain faster than clean a shitty oily mess off my frame, shockbone, axle and carrier.....not to mention the shit that collects inside my case..... Justintoxicated
Hey SDD, when you helped me pick the X-ring chain I did a little research and this is what I came up with. Both the X-ring and O-ring chains both use O-rings. The difference is that a standard O-Ring chain only applies pressure on the Oring in 2 places, where as teh X-ring uses an X shaped piece to apply pressure to 4 places on the O-ring. This helps to give it a better seal and last longer than a standard O-ring chain.
2001SSTBanshee
I take my chain off and clean it with mineral spirits (safe for the o-rings) and use Honda pro chain lube because it lubes good and doesnt attract dirt like a lot of others.
