89 bansheedude Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 just wondering how you do this, sorry for not being able to spell, i cant seem to figure it out, i have keihin 28pwk flatslide carbs. need help. thanks, jayare Quote
Wheatchex Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 The best way would be to use an airflow meter like a UniSyn or something similar. You need to synchronize at idle and just off idle(with the engine running). You want the airflow to be sthe same. The other way is to visually watch the slides to make sure they lift off at the same time. Also use a drill bit or rod to check the clearance at idle(with the engine off). Wheatchex Quote
itsmyforte Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 you will need a carb/TB synchronizer. motion pro makes a couple different ones, they work on anything with 2-4 carbs. you hook two hoses to the intake tract (use adapters inplace of the BOOST BOTTLE holes) this would be the most accurate way to sync the banshee. however never ever let it idle above 3.5000 rpm's, it will suck in the mercury from the synchronizer and f*ck your shit up! IMO its not necessary to get this anal about synchronizing on a 2 stroke banshee. just measure the slide lift on each side until your as close as can be. Quote
89 bansheedude Posted January 2, 2004 Author Report Posted January 2, 2004 that is all im wanting to do is get the slide even on eack side, and i cant seem to get them at the same lift on each side, how do i get where the opening gap at idel or off is the same on each side? thanks, jayare Quote
itsmyforte Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 buy a set of vernier calipers from a local hardware store. they should reach in there to take a measurement. personally i can't live without that tool, best measurement for anything under 6 inches. p.s. if anyone makes a remark at my last sentence, i'm gonna start bustin heads. Banchetta Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Turn the idle all the way down, pull the air cleaner and look into the intake w/ a flashlight. make sure you have slack in the throttle cable on the handlebars. Now adjust the cables on the carb tops so when you press the throttle lightly the slides move off the bottom of the carbs together....Once this is accomplished, then take the slack out of the cable on the handle bars, adjust idle knobs about 7.5 turns out....and go from there...
