the94shee Posted December 7, 2023 Report Share Posted December 7, 2023 (edited) Recently scored a 2006 Special Edition "bee" on a partial trade, and with winter arriving here in the north east as i type this i figure this will be the perfect garage project to get cleaned up and ready to go for spring time riding with the fellas out in the woods. Its bone stock, together, starts after a buncha good kicks and runs pretty good. it could use some fine tuning to the carbs to be perfect but it runs, holds power and doesn't skip a beat... After replacing tons and tons of missing/stripped/snapped bolts and whatnot as well as giving it some small maintenance love here and there (fluids, brakes, ball joints, lots of grease etc.) It turned out to be a decent machine. However, the motor definitely needs some real love. It has two tiny leaks on the bottom of the cases where the studs are, as well as more stripped screws throughout the side covers. That being said, top end rebuild (thinking 64.5 wise), Hot rods bottom end kit and all new gaskets and seals to start as well as a whole engine bolt kit and perhaps some fancy titanium studs because why not right? Question i have for y'all is this, What else should I/would you address while motor is apart without going too crazy? locogato11283 Posted December 8, 2023 Report Share Posted December 8, 2023 I would seriously look into a 4mm Serval or Driveline motor. Alloy Bolts has bolt kits for the entire bike. Pancake bearing, high flow impeller, shifting mods, and new eccentric screw. your wanting a striker crank? Driveline cylinder kit is nice for the money. keep your crank and go 392 also.
