Flyin_Shee Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 In a couple weeks I'll be doing some ice drags with my 2000 Banshee with FMF pipes and silencers and a uni filter, I also plan to run it without the air lid. I think the elevation is around 200-400 feet. And don't ask me what my main jet, pilot jet, and air/fuel screw is it...because I really have no clue...Also, the temp. should be anywhere from 0-40, most likely around 0-20 because it's supposed to get real cold here soon...Thanks. (In case you're wondering, I'm still running the stock carbs, with the jetting for summer time use) Quote
spoin39 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 I am guessing you did rejet for the pipes so I would go up 2-3 sizes on the main considering the airbox lid removed and the cold temps, you might have to richen the airscrew (turn it in) a bit also. I would try to do a plug check as soon as you get there to make sure these adjustments are enough. Quote
Flyin_Shee Posted January 2, 2004 Author Report Posted January 2, 2004 Yes I rejetted for the pipes, after I blew my engine because I wasn't jetted for the pipes (dad wouldn't let me rejet because he said it didn't need to be...crazy guy..that cost me $1000 and he blames me for "riding it hard"). I'm going to Lake Washington in St. Peter, Minnesota. I'll be staying at a friend's house for the weekend, and he used to own a banshee so he has jets left over...could you give me the approx. sizes I'll need? Since I don't know what's in there right now, so I might have to pick up new jets just in case... Quote
Banchetta Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Take the cover off!!! Why would you want it on?? You'll gain so much more....W/ the cover off, I'd start w/ a 300-310 main and do a plug check. W/ the cover on, start w/ a 280 main and do a plug check. Always do plug check to make sure your jetting is spot on regardless of starting points or advice, we can only get you close, you have to fine tune it from there....Plugs tell all when it comes to main jets...You also want to raise the needles one or two clips... scotts96fast Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I'm doing the same as flyin shee in Feburary.my machine is jetted perfect for the summer.(60-80)I have a cut lid w\o the snarkel. Not 100% on how to set this thing up.I will remove the lid and have a timing plate to adjust. I'm thinking 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn in on air screws, clip down one notch to richen.Confused about the main jet!!!!I would go two sizes up,but removing the air box lid could chage it more.???? 7 degree advanced with all race gas. What would be a good octane to run? brokemybanshee Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 I'm running 340 mains, 30 pilots, needle in middle, temp around 40 degrees, altitude around 800ft, seems to run pretty good mabe a little rich but shee loves it. Make sure and warm that sucker up REAL good, with all my aftermarket cooling parts it takes me 30 minutes to get it up to a safe riding temp and another 20 minutes to get it up to hammering temp.
