bignasty1 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Share Posted January 1, 2004 i drained the fluids and am about to pull it out here in about 10 minutes and clean it up when i put it in the box am i gonna have to put some kind support on the bottom of it so it doent bust out the bottom of my box? dumb question but i just never shipped a motor b4. . Posted January 1, 2004 Report Share Posted January 1, 2004 Best thing to do, go buy yourself some of that liquid foam insulation stuff that starts out as a liquid and foams up. Tape up the bottom of the box along all open edges, put some foam in for a base and let it foam up a bit. Put your engine in a plastic bag and make sure that is completely sealed shut with tape, and then pour in the rest of the foam and let it foam up out of the box some, cut it so you can close the box and you'll be good to go. SICK BOY Posted January 1, 2004 Report Share Posted January 1, 2004 I make a wooden box frame out of 2x2's,and bolt the motor mounts to wood 2x2's and use lag screws to mount the motor in the box frame.Then I staple cardboard on the sides and top of the box. NYUK Posted January 1, 2004 Report Share Posted January 1, 2004 all great ideas so far.ply wood bottom drill a couple holes. wire it down.if you can find a box sturdy enough.do what abyss said the foam is a good idea. i usually build a crate.wire it down tight to the bottom piece of plywood, put 2 2x4 runners on the bottom then build the crate around it using plywood and 2x4`s.i just shipped a cr 125 motor usps. i put it in a milk crate wired it up tight ,then built around the crate with plywood, screwing the wood into the crate.it was tight as could be. then shrink wrapped it.
