vussute
Hey guys, I got a 2001 banshee and its absolutely bone stock.Ive finally sold my Ktm and i have bitten the bullet and decided to spend every cent of the $4000 australian, on my shee. I want to spend it on power/engine.... There are so many things out there that i could do but i dont know where to start and whats the best combination. And dont know what parts are worth so dont know what ill be looking at.Also i got to consider putting the power to the ground.I ride in sand dunes and dirt trails. Any list of things for the motor/carbs/pipe etcwould be very very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S- Dont forget $4000 australian, which means about $3008. Thanks
vussute
I just read the post suspension or motor first.....should i get pipes reeds and filter and then if i have any money left the suspension/chassis??? Im confused.
SICK BOY
The first thing you should do is pipes, reeds,k&n filter, and rejet the carbs. These mods will really wake your shee up.I would then get a noss head, and if your up to taking the motor apart I'd weld the crank, and have a port job done. Toomey Banshee
This is the order I would do it if and when I do it all over again; 1.Better air filter set up, Toomey 2 into 1 or pro design plate with K & N or foam filter 2. Pipes, this choice is completely up to you and your style of riding. Toomey or CPI for dunes and dragging, FMF fattys or Pro CIrcuit for good all around performance. FMF gnarlies for for woods/trails. This debate is in here a million times. ANY pipe you get will be a major improvement. Remember with new pipes and air filters you need to jet way up. 3. Better rear tires. Now that you have tons of more power the stockers just will spin. 4. Cool head of some type with 20-21 domes to up your compression. Try to stick with a head where you dont have to change out the studs. Of course these are just a few suggestions and all of these can be done in the garage by you, except mounting the tires, and shouldnt add up to over $1200.00-$1500.00. Also be advised if you wanted to go all out you can just have it ported/polished, crank welded with new pipes and an air filter with the cool head and just be done with it. If you go this route tack on another $400.00-$800.00 depending on who you use to port your motor and weld your crank.
bri98
Toomy is right on the motor mods.PLUS Any new front shocks with rezzies will be a huge improvement over stock( Works TCS ELKA AXIS 500-1300$) If you ride Trails a steering damper is a great investment also. Shop around and shop smart, 3000$ will take a long way from your stock shee.
Oilsmoke
For a great Dune machine I think you need. Pipes CPI's Or Toomey T5 600.00 28mm to 30mm Carbs 250.00 K&N with Outwears 75.00 Noss Head 20cc to 19cc 250.00 Inline cooler 20 fin 25.00 4 inch EXT swingarm 250.00 Skat Traks Hauler 8 to 10 paddle On light wheels 200.00 Skat Traks Mohawks fronts On Middle weight wheel 175.00 Some good porting 500.00 ______ est total 2325.00 These Parts IMHO are Must haves Basics for a Great start on Dune machine. You made it breath great and Hookup & steer both areas are a must in the sand for enjoyment. You can add some of the little stuff to fine tune later as money permits. Oh you won't a new rear brake line if you don't go any longer than 4 inch on the swing arm. Don't go longer unless you are planning 80 horsepower or more. Wassup350
I'd also look into Trinity racing. They have some sick kits. Only thing is you'd have to work out a little bit to be able to hang on lol. And yes definitely gear it up. It pulls much better and will give you better top end speed. http://www.trinityracing.com/ Duncan Racing also has so good products. http://www.duncanracing.com/
Oilsmoke
If your planning any dune thats over 75 feet and steap, gear down one tooth on the front to 13 Sand Sucks Power like nothing else.
