eL pUlpo Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I have brand new 2003 stock banshee and it takes forever to start when its cold and it turns off when i try to start moving(not clutch problems) its sounda likes its choking. Everythnig is stock brand new. im also barely breaking it in. i need to know how to start mines quicker. I live in bakersfields and it does get cold sumtimes 30 degrees but thats overnight Quote
spoin39 Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I turn my fuel on, hit the throttle once, pull the choke out all the way, and give it a kick. It always starts within 3 kicks no matter how cold. Maybe I just got lucky and got a good one. Quote
BenBB Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 OK if it's brand new and you're breaking it in, it's a pretty safe assumption that the compression is allright. I'd make sure the air filter is clean & oiled first, then try adjusting the airscrews in (richer) or out (leaner) to see if you can get it to start easier. Try going in a half turn richer first and see what happens, if it's worse or doesn't make any difference try going leaner... Quote
SHEEGUY SMOKEDYAA Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Dude stock bike very cold weather or even add after market pipes? Jetting is lean makes it harder to start pull choke (is actually an enricher).most all Banshees benefit from a slight richer pilot. IMO once air box lid is removed for better air flow you have a much better breathing Shee Quote
Banchetta Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Sounds to me that if its starting hard and runs like shit, then maybe your choke tube between the two carbs is disconnected or maybe the tors is acting up....Check the tube (1/4"x2"), then disconnect the black box above the left exhaust and disconnect the parking brake switch on the handlebars by following the wire towards the gas tank and disconnect the wire connector....
