alba_banshee
I have an 03 banshee, had her about a year. I'm ready to through some money into her. What should I do first, the motor or suspension? By the way I have FMF's and a K&N air fliter allready.

rebelbanshee2
get some wider a arms and some good shocks up front wider axle and shorter swing arm in back along with a rebuilt shock and you will love it
BenBB
I agree with rebel, I did suspension on mine first (before pipes even) and I'm happy with the choice. A stock motor, with a K&N and pipes is pretty damn potent, the Banshee's real achilles heel is the substandard suspension. Luckily you can upgrade it, not exactly cheap but aftermarket parts make a world of difference. Exactly what to buy depends on what you're gonna do. For just duning, paddles & just front shocks would be a good idea. For woods front shocks and a steering stabilizer; for MX front shocks, revalved rear, wider axle & a-arms, and steering stabilizer; for TT lower front shocks, swaybar, rear lowering link, wider axle & a-arms; etc. etc. For all-around, I'd put a +2 axle on the top of the list, followed by +2 a-arms and the best shocks you can afford...the difference will be night and day. Meat
Yea I agree, upgrade that suspension before you get porting work done. I did my engine work first and it was too much for the stock suspension\width.
evil
yeah, i agree, youll never realize the power of the motor as it is with a stock suspension, then when you deside to go bigger on the motor youll have a machine that can handle it alot better. Meat
yep, when i rode my ported 404 engine with the stock chassis dimensions and stock shocks, the quad felt dangerous. Too narrow, too stiff and unstable at wot 4th,5th gear pulls. I couldnt fully enjoy the new motor cause I was too busy tryin to keep the damn thing on 4 wheels. Once I widened it up with some A-arms and axle, it made all the difference in the world. Unstoppable now !!!

alba_banshee
So everyone seems to agree. Though one of you says shorter swing arm and another says longer. I understand the concept of a longer swing arm, but why the shorter? I ride the dunes and hard pack desert, what's the best way to go? .
If your running paddles go with longer to keep the front end down. Sand has gobs of traction with paddles. Us dirt folk need the shorter swingarm. Our stock one every time we add more mods all it does is spin the tires faster.
