locogato11283 Posted December 30, 2003 Report Share Posted December 30, 2003 yes it can be done and look perfectly fine. i bent mine so bad i couldnt get the tank out and now you cant even tell. all i did was take a bottle jack and prop it against the front seat mount. then jack it out. it really helps if u have another banshee to take measurements from. once you get this done it will be weaker than it was before. i just welded some gussetts on the front side of mine. it doesnt affect any parts of the banshee and also helps keep that where its sposed to be. just remember try not to use any heat. it should bend back very easily without any heat. tats4life Posted December 30, 2003 Report Share Posted December 30, 2003 the way i have always bent them back is, to hoist the front end up by the head stay and gentle push down on the grap bar, your weight pushing on the grap bar will straighten the head stay. Amstaff Posted December 30, 2003 Report Share Posted December 30, 2003 man i smashed mine but good my tank and every thing was smashed i used a steel I beam that was attached to a building and a tie down straop to fix it if ya ask me its a poor design anyhow they should realy gusset them better or use like a cross bar not this easily bendable hoop stickin out on top all by its lonesome! evil Posted December 30, 2003 Report Share Posted December 30, 2003 power gussets are taking the shee apart and gusseting the living shit out of it so you dont have this problem. i did my 01 when it was a week old and since flipped it 2 times and it withstood both times. it protected the tank and all that good stuff so its a good investment. i also did the 94 and did a step by step and posted it in the old forums but i cant find them anymore and dont have the old pics due to some computer crashing (too bad i cant gusset that ) but if you need help on it pm me and ill do what i can to get it going. later yamahammer, call me when you get time. well get it going. later Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Skiddz Posted January 2, 2004 Report Share Posted January 2, 2004 I looped my 'she a few years back and smashed the crap outta everything above the top frame rail. I fixed the steering loop by taking my Hi-Lift jack and putting the base end on the loop and the "hook" end on the push bar and cranking it "up" slowly. Took a few different tweak session to get it to where everything fit properly (The radiator mounts are key here!) and everything was square. (i.e. aligned properly with the rest of the frame) I agree, it's a poor design and needs some beefing up. I'm rebuilding my entire bike right now and as soon as my frame comes back from the sandblaster, I'm gonna gusset the livin' crap out of it, especially that loop!
