Madbanshee01
Hey guys, wanted to know if this has happene to any of you and if so how did you fix it. If not please help this banshee out with some advice on how to fix this part of the frame. I headed out for a ride and i always take a tie down strap with me just in case i get stuck. This time as the other bikes were already waiting for me, i wrapped the strap around and around my grap bar. As i was riding along i gues it unwrapped itself. To make this short, somehow the other end of the strap that was hanging, wrapped around my axle and began to pull down on my grap bar untill, BOW. My axle was fine but the one bars that are the very end of the banshee's frame, which bolt on the grap bar and frame bent down. If both of the bars would of bent down fine but only one did, so i am asking any of you guys of you have any advice on how to get this part of the frame back up. I have tried prying it but, yeah right thats all aluminum. Please help, thanx Jo

locogato11283
that part of the frame isnt aluminum. none of the frame is aluminum. to do it right you will need a torch. pull ur plastic and such and heat and bend. its really pretty simple. only problem is that once you heat it up and bend it back you will lose alot of strength in that area. gussetts would help if you have access to a welder. if no torch then some kind of cheater bar slipped over the end of the frame might do it. id say heat is still the best way. mcaf29
Just be careful about heating and banging around the CDI. My frame was bent and I hammered on the frame. Then a little while later my CDI (2000 shee) went. Coincidence I think not! (funny for those of us who rember thsoe time life book commercials). It takes about 2 minutes to remove the CDI so I'd recommend you do that first.
Skiddz
LOTS of careful measurements off the "unmodified" side, a torch and some patience should straighten it right out. Once the steel is a dark cherry red, it'll move pretty easily, just go S L O W. You don't want to kink anything. Once you think it's close, let it cool naturally. Don't douse it with water, you'll just weaken it. Once it's cool, try bolting everything back on to make sure it fits properly. If it doesn't, try again. It may take a few times to get it right. Good luck!
fixitrod
I'd try to straighten it without heat. Once you heat that metal, it will move easy, but it will not be very strong afterwards.
SICK BOY
I took off my grab bar,and put the rear part of the frame in a long section of pipe.I had a buddy sit on the quad as I lifted the pipe up,and it worked great.
