p8121 Posted December 28, 2003 Report Share Posted December 28, 2003 My rear pads are getting thin and I think I'm going to have to change them before this summer. Has any of you guys changed your brake pads? Is there any tricks/snags that I'll run into? I've done brakes on cars lots of times, but never on my banshee. Whats the best kind of pad to use? cgamla Posted December 28, 2003 Report Share Posted December 28, 2003 alot of shees come with little thin metal bolt retention tangs on the pad bolts . You will need a sharp chisel and hammer to get under that tang and bend it outof the way, Reuse it if you can and if you can't oh dang well. Mine has been gone for years. spoin39 Posted December 31, 2003 Report Share Posted December 31, 2003 Loosen the pad bolts first then take caliper off, clean the pistons real good w/brake cleaner, put pins back in with the new pads, bolt caliper back on, tighen the pad bolts (pins), and bend the locking tabs back. itsmyforte Posted December 31, 2003 Report Share Posted December 31, 2003 the back doesn't matter too much it either locks up or it don't. however i am a believer in EBC HH pads. hella bite! but costly! i run those up front and whatever the cheapest is out back. course i use a gsx-r master cylinder up front as well. i like to stop fast!
