Best Oil?

Recommended Posts

well i guess i will use the tractor trans oil, i live on a pretty big farm so we have 5 gallon buckets laying around everywhere of it. so i will use that. thanks holyman, i see how it would be good if it runs a tractor as long as we run them sometimes 18hour day weekday and weekends it would have to be great for a banshee tranny. jayare

There are probably 101 choices of oil you can use in the trans, Just make sure the oil you use is wet clutch combatible or non-friction modified , usually all the four- stroke oils for atv or motorcycle are a safe bet.

I use Amsoil 10W-40 Motorcycle oil in my trans and best of all I also run this oil in my Warrior and I havn't had any clutch problems.

Holyman , I am also a fellow Amsoil dealer, just curios what pre-mix you like the best? We have been testing all of the Amsoil variety in 4 different Banshees over the past three years . Just wondering if anyone has any findings they might want to share.

First off, I'm not the kind of guy to try and squeeze every ounce of power out of an engine, so I've never tested a bunch of oils or ratios. I just recently switched to Amsoil from Yamalube. I was running 40:1 Yamalube now I'm running the 100:1 at 80:1. If you've done the Amsoil thing for a while, have you noticed any difference between the 100:1 and the Interceptor and the 2000 series? Have you talked to Amsoil about the difference between the formulas? I suspect that the 100:1 is the best oil they have and the others are packaged for profit. I haven't called in to find out the fine details though.

Holyman , First off thanks for your reply .

As far as the 100to1 oil , this is a very good oil and We to found that mixed at 80:1 seemed to produce the best results.

We have poured this stuff in stock, and drag ported banshees and it always performed great.

The Series 2000 oil qoute from Amsoil" for use in modified 2-cycle motors where RPM,compression ratios, heat, and horsepower have been increased from stock"

I cannot say for sure if it is better than the 100to1 , I do not have access to a dyno to verify any horsepower gains.

It does smoke a little more than the 100to1 and "seems" to add some rpm.

Still testing ratios Our banshee's did'nt like any thing richer than 50:1 with this oil but jetting could be the root problem.

Sorry for the Off Topic Post.

I am curious to try Amsoil Super Shift racing trans fluid in the banshee trans.

May try it in my Brother -Inlaw's banshee , He will try anything.

Well my 100:1 theory isn't scientific but I think you're kinda confirming what I thought... if it can handle 100:1 then it's got to be a great oil. On top of that, the ratings/ designations are the same for all of their 2 stroke oils. I'm sticking with 100:1, it's cheap, works great AND it's cheap AND works great. :) Hate to repeat myself but these are 4 of the things I look for in products/ mods :D

I have always used REDLINE LIGHT WIEGHT SHOCK PROOF GEAR OIL. I used to race alot back in the late 80's -early 90's and had a rep ask if I would run it for the year, he gave me a case and some stickers. 14yrs later I still use it even though I have to buy it now! You can get it at most moto shops.

  • 4 weeks later...

I always use the hondalube stuff. It's worked great in every 2stroke I've ever used it with. A noticeable difference in quads I've gotten in their shifting from what was run in them before. As soon as I put it in my banshee from running regular 10-30 I noticed a complete improvement in shifting and finding neutral.

It looks a lot like ATF and it lasts a decent amount of time before you need to change it out. Like 4 something a quart.

Redline lightwieght, shockproof gearoil is the best thing I've found. It was recommended to me by Tom Morgan Racing. It protects the gears and is designed for wet clutch applications. Cost about $8.95 a quart.
