trippy
i often use my shee in swamps and through creeks is it just me or am i the only one who's willing to get dirty. are there any reasons why it shouldnt be done?
raxen
No particular reason. One thing to do for machine longevity...Get some YAMABOND-4 and a new stator gasket and seal that baby up tight as you can. A stator likes to be dry. bigboybanshee
That's pretty much ALL the riding I do! Never had any major problems and love getting covered in mud. Cleanup is a beotch though...
got1banshee
I just hate getting my shee muddy, I think everything will last longer if I stay out of the mud. It just locks better clean.
fixitrod
Most peoples stock carbs will not work well in water. Other than that, Have fun !!!!!!!
bigboybanshee
Most peoples stock carbs will not work well in water. Other than that, Have fun !!!!!!! Did you or anyone else ever figure out exactly why that is? I know it was a debate for quite a long time
fixitrod
Nope, just ended by buying new carbs. Goes through water great now!!
bigboybanshee
Nope, just ended by buying new carbs. Goes through water great now!! Really? That's cool! Maybe that's why I never had any problems was because the carbs were so new. I'll be damned! Thanks fixitrod, I'll have to remember that one! patrolman808
I personally would rather use a machine made for the mud to ride in the mud. Shaft drive atv's are made for mud and all that, chain drive atv's aren't really made to go into the mud that much...but it's done all the time, I just hate cleaning mine after hitting a mud hole.. SICK BOY
I always ride in the mud,it sucks cleaning the shee but it's well worth it.I agree with fixitrod if you ride in water get rid of the stock carbs.Flat slides work great in the water. 350miller
I had trouble water skipping this summer with the connection you disconect to remove tors (little black box on left side). The other owner just left the connections open. Water was hitting it and it would short and foul the plugs. Just covered it up, works good now. spoin39
The only thing that sucks about mud and water is the fact that it gets into the bearings and bushings, plus I hate to clean that crap off. I wash mine after every ride and take the plastic and tank off every 2 rides just to keep mine as clean as I can.
Wassup350
I have cut plastic so i avoid mud as much as possible. Plus i'd rather take a fourstroke through the mud, because I'd just stall the shee or if i tried rippin through it the tires would just spin and get me more stuck. Plus my throttle sticks when everything gets wet.
ruff_rida69
I'm planning on sealing everything i can up with silicone as tight as i can for XC, and iv been riding in mud for a long time and i haven't had any problems "YET", about the only way i know to prevent any damage is to seal every hole with silicone and keep all your bushings and bearings sealed with water proof grease. MILO
i think some banshee owners clean and treat their ride better than i do my car. i love my old firebird and wash it every weekend in the summer, and it never sees anything outside of my garage in the winter. but keeping a quad out of mud and water and spotless? i guess for a lot of you duners out west it's about show as much as it is go, and you can ride all day in the sand and not get too dirty. i see alot of sweet paint jobs, and chromed up machines on here, but they wouldn't last for shit where i ride. don't get me wrong, i usually wash mine after riding if it's all mudded up and i try to take care of it. but it's hard to go anywhere without getting into mud and water. that's what riding is all about here in pa. mudding and hillclimbing. and gncc style riding.
